Education Projects

Alongside dramaturgy, I also work as a freelance educationalist. Through this I have worked in partnership with Nottingham City Council for several years on projects around education and development of non-core subjects such as outdoor learning and the arts, especially their impact on improving literacy attainment. The Paul Hamlyn Foundation funded Key Stage 1 Wollaton Park Camps scheme, which I administered in collaboration with the Bulwell EAZ partnership, is now used as UK wide exemplar practice in literacy development and learning outside the classroom, and has led to other leaning away projects at different sites across the region.

I am currently overseeing the development of Opportunity Notts, an online learning passport platform for children and young people in Nottingham, and its further roll-out to schools and colleges outside the city as My School Challenge. I am a member of organisation group for Nottingham's Cultural Education Partnership and STEMCity (as a STEAM partner). I'm also part of the Nottingham City Engagement and Participation team delivering workshops, like Primary Parliament (above). Other organisations I've worked with include Nottingham Music HubJason King World War Workshops and Nottingham Youth Theatre. I have also worked extensively with young people with SEND in drama via Nottingham Youth Theatre's Inclusive Company and Bristol based Myrtle Theatre Company, plus other SEND education settings through OppNotts.

The Nitty Gritty
I have an enhanced DBS check, allowing me to work with young people and vulnerable adults, and Public Liability Insurance with indemnity to principal for up to five millions pounds - please Contact Us with any enquiries regarding any education workshops.
